Not so much hello as "remember me?" (won't be offended if you don't!)

I used to hang out here about 4 years ago after passing my CBT and getting my first 125 (lovely SR in my profile pic).  However, after being relieved of said bike by someone brave enough to creep into my back garden in broad daylight while we were all in the house, I never managed to get back on the road.  CBT expired, child number 3 arrived and 4 years passed.

But now (as they say) I'm back!  CBT done all over again, DAS assessment tomorrow morning and hopefully straight through with some lessons to a licence before the summer.  Tomorrow will be my first time on anything over a 125, so feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves - not sure what the weather will throw at me either, but hopefully I'll impress them enough to only need a few lessons!

Looking forward to getting back on the road, fully fledged this time, and getting involved in the local social bike scene.  Live walking distance from Pure Triumph in Wellingborough where there seems to be a fair bit going on.

I distinctly remember that name (which says a lot, because I often forget the names of my own kids embarrassed) - welcome back!

Well, the DAS assessment was a massive success.  Was a bit worried that a 500cc would be 4x the trouble of a 125 - but (as most of you knew long before i cottoned on) it's just a lot more fun!  Had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours taking in the Northants scenery on the centre's CBF500.  Even though it was damp out, and rained a bit on the ride it just felt really solid under me - much more in control than trying to rag the wotsits off my old 125, even at speed on the dual carriageway.

To top it off, the instructor reckoned on "a few less than average" lessons to get me ready for the tests (probably down to the fact that I rode before, and have 20+ years of driving experience to help me out!).

Consider the blue touchpaper well and truly lit!
