Wolves round a cornered deer springs to mind sometimes. It happens everywhere.
Although to open a fresh can of worms here, as the gents outnumber the ladies by about 6 to 1, we really ought to encourage more to join, particularly of the younger variety.
Biking is a non-exclusive hobby, everyone can do it, but most bikey places I go, the majority seems to be that of the middle aged man with time and money on his hands. Surely we don't want the annual meet photos to end up a ever increasing sea of beards and grey hair. No offense at all to the veterans (I'm not agist at all - some among you have twice my age - but twice my riding skill), but fresh blood is needed to help keep biking going. Particularly as they constantly come up with more ways to stamp down on our fun, ever more restrictions, legislations and complications towards getting folk on two wheels.
So I think we should all take that little more time, myself included as I'm a bagel for skipping over the "introduce yourself" threads (shameful I know), and welcome anyone who wants to come and be a part of why we hang around in this little ol' corner of the internet.

And the pretty girls get even more of a welcome if they post a picture
I'm guilty of being a bit more proactive with welcoming new women than men since there are a few places out there which are very male focused and can be intimidating to some women so I like to feel like I'm doing my to prove that this isn't one of those places.

Apparently sales of scooters is up dramatically, presumably due to the economy and the cost of car insurance and possibly aided by the `Get On` scheme.
It will be interesting to see what percentage move on to bigger and better bikes.
