« on: January 08, 2012, 06:08:06 PM »

Hello all  oh no!
Currently a member of another biking forum however seems to be more members from local area on here so decided to join up hope no one minds.

Ok where I stand I'm 20 years old been riding for the last few months on a Honda Cb125T, aiming to get my tests done this year before the new directive but stay with the bike no real need for a bigger bike.

Here is my bike below, hello to anyone that recognizes me and to everyone else.

Welcome Smilingsam. Enjoy the forum.

There's no real need for a bigger bike, true - but there are lots of good reasons that persuade most of us, sooner or later OK!

Thankyou everyone for the warm welcome very happy

Welcome Sam and I  know why you're smiling bike
Afraid it has got a dark glimmer to it at the moment, had an incident on the bike a couple of months ago involving a car park, diesel spillage and wet leaves. Lets just say bike came of with a broken throttle case snapped in half(only thing broke).

Bike started only running on full throttle soon after, ended up taking carbs apart for my first time to sort it out, researched into it and it said that it was a pilot jet bunged up checked it out and sure enough it was which is sorted. Now developed a fuel leak; all clean inside not the fuel needle/float they are sorted, just won't stop leaking. Going try method a friend has told me which is let it circulate for a few mins (only got a side stand at moment) so it is leaning to the side.

If not it's going of to the local shop to get it fixed, need it for university which is a painful bus ride at the moment 1hour each way for 8mile ride.

Hope you get your bike sorted, put a thread on the bike maintainance board, and somebody will be along to help you directly.

Good luck at uni what are you studying?

Where's it leaking from? If it's coming out of one of the carb overflow tubes, try checking the float hieght on that carb.

Thanks for the offer but had enough of the bike at the moment got get exam revision sorted as well as essays so haven't got any more time to put on it due at university for an hour each day next week (2hour commute total of there and back).

My subject at the moment is Business Management was extremely interesting if only in the name basis, got really boring unfortunately due to accounting and the theory of business.

Where's it leaking from? If it's coming out of one of the carb overflow tubes, try checking the float hieght on that carb.

Hello there, the pipe that it's leaking from doesn't have a name, well sort of its the auxilliary breather vent to let air into the float bowl. Apparently they stop weeping after a while once the fuel has circulated. Kept it leaning straight up so carbs were even and it stopped leaking. But having problems starting. On the cb125T you can't change the fuel height as well it is fixed so thanks for the help.

As I've already said although I have found my new love in fixing carbs (remind me of lego) have lost the time to spend on her. Will get some more time in future promise, need cut costs.
However for the mean time got her in a local garage extremely friendly guy even giving me a lift in morning to my exams for free and willing to diagnose the problem if no parts need replacing then simple £50 which is not that bad in my honest opinion.

You should be able to adjust the float height by bending the float up or down. If you have a workshop manual, it should give you the height that it's supposed to be. It could also be that the valve's either got dirt in it or it may be worn out. If you take the float bowls off both carbs, you could measure the height of the one that isn't leaking, and if the other one is any different, adjust to the same height of the good one.  OK!

Sorry to bring the thread open however paid a garage to sort out the problem with the leaking on the carbs. The leaking was due to a faulty screw kept coming undone who knew it nothing wrong with the floats got me shocked. Also I had replaced my twist throttle the wrong way around which is now sorted.

*By the way was a good motorcycle repair shop would recommend again, which is jackhammers.
