Wow, lots of lovely people  heart thank you!
Never used a forum so I best get the hang of this quite quickly.

M&M, my bike may just have a small tank and a large reserve and so all the problems could just be down to low fuel?!  Friend is working on it just to make sure it's sound  sun

You're all really friendly, thanks!  What is 'Soup' all about?
I'll check the link for the ride on 21st of April too!

Cheers, Beck

Hello Becky,

I must say you're looking pretty good for your age considering you used to ride 600 years ago!  nerner

Being daft aside, welcome aboard from a fellow Hornet 600 rider (my work steed).

P.S. "Soup" is our beloved leader, organiser of things, and resident GBB enforcer (see leg-slapping).  bat

Edit: I tend to fill my Hornet at 100 - 110 miles into a full tank. Have seen a good 20-30 miles on reserve. Hope that helps

Thanks Admiles that helps me to know what ur tank did/does...The RAC thought it was something to do with compression / the carbaretta or an electrical fault but a friend took a look and thinks it's prob just the size of the tank and it's reserve! Easy fix, having it serviced now.  I forget to oil the chain, don't have a paddock stand, may get a gadget to slow drip oil on the chain =)
Snapdragon, will take that reserve switch technique with me where ever I go =P

Hiya Becky.  Greetings from sunny Bedford!!  Once I've won my battle against DSA's finest (this wednesday God willing!!) I'm flanning to hook up with the RoSPA group in Northampton and get some advanced skills going.

Is there a local Honda group?  Might make up my mind about my first big bike.... :-)

I've a Hornet too (2000).  Ran out of fuel on my trip home from buying it so I'm very wary of fuel.  I used to look for fuel at the 100mile mark but as I'm not a mad rider, 120m was sufficient.  Switching over is easy once you're used to it but I'm just paranoid so have always switched over before I've run out.  Mr Mandy had my "hack" hornet off me (yup, loved it that much I bought a second) and he reckoned he could go 150m before reserve I think...

If you're not a member already, the Honda Hornet Owner's club is a good resource for parts and info on the bike (like the infamous clutch rumble just being 'one of those things').

Welcome aboard btw smile

Hey Quickquack, I would definitely recommend RoSPA after passing, could save your life for one but really they are a great bunch of guys, really chilled out group and after membership, only ask £5 per ride out as a donation to the person training you.  Which I think is loads cheaper than the IAM.  Anyway, they meet over by Sixfields Cinema at 9.30am each sunday.  Good luck with the test etc =0) And there is a Honda group on Facebook under 'Northants Hoc'!  And this is the link for Northampton's RoSPA group: http://www.nvam.org.uk/

Ulster Exile, thanks for the info! I'll look up the Honda Hornet owners club.  Have been thinking about getting a Honda CBR but may leave that till I've saved a bit more money!
What is the clutch rumble you mentioned?

Cheers, Becky
