AJS DD125E

« on: December 23, 2011, 08:49:45 PM »

Hi my name is Stephanie,
I own an AJS Regal Raptor DD125E, I live in Staffordshire and I've had the bike a few months.
I've always much preferred the purity and simplicity of bikes over the bulky plastic and roughly bolted-together feel of cars. They can keep their loud music and pointless exhaust racket.
I'm a computer games design student, a cyber-architect if you like - levels and realism and all that; been into it since I was sat on my Dad's knee making simple programs on his Commodore 64. When I wasn't riding up and down the road sat on the back of his Honda of course...
Now I have a PC that can do everything except make tea, and a black and chrome beauty of a machine that I call my own. She's very high maintenance and doesn't like water much, but I love her all the same.
Anyway, I've been meaning to talk to other bikers for a while, so here I am  smile

I actually had an accident the other day. I wasn't hurt too bad but we both rolled a bit and now I have to fix her before I can ride her again.

I'd just like to say how much I appreciate everyone helping me get my bike back up and running. I'm not doing too bad, but without your help I wouldn't have gotten this far. Thank you x

Welcome in, hope the pointless exhaust racket doesn't extend to bikes, else I'd best get my coat razz
Hope you and the bike are ok too.

 - and yeah, I'm not too bad thanks, bruised all up my right side, it's all ok really but the ribs hurt a bit. Not exactly the kind of entrance to a biker forum that really gives the best impression I suppose, neither does falling off because of a badly-designed speed bump. Not exactly "rock and roll" is it  embarrassed

Hope the ribs and brusing mend soon. Don't worry about the falling off, we've all done it, 3 on my list excluding the off road adventures - if they count i'm into double figures Wink

"...hope the Rraptor isn't going to cost you too much time and money"

Thanks for the advice and yes, she's costing me a bit now, triple figures just for the majors... having rolled a bit, everything that isn't structurally solid was smashed off, bent, buckled or dented in some way or another. The real sick irony here is that when I came off, I was going to get some 'Autosol' to clean up a small ding I had picked up a day earlier.
After the crash I need 'Miracle-sol'...  rain

I already am enjoying it.
Interesting thing to go through looking at the things other people talk about on here, I've learnt a fair bit about things I haven't encountered already and find many things intriguing. The way people jumped to help me out with my electrical problem is astonishing too; best not to struggle through things alone. I'm happy to be here smile

Thank you very much.
Finally got a half-decent picture of my actual bike as my profile pic now. Hurrah!
(Damn I hate those 'L' plates sad )

On a good note, I've fixed 99% of the damage now, as you can see. We have no left foot rest or gear shift lever again yet, but soon... soon...
