Finally, it's here.

All thanks to Mini G; she has booked me on a trackday with bike hire.  woo hoo.

Thank you babe

So, I just need to buy my gear.

Leathers (the ones I have are not good enough)
Gold Standard Helmet
Race Boots
Back protector
Knee Sliders

Is there anything else I need

Where is the best place to go for these?

Oh by the way, 27th July - Oulton Park

just got back from oulton park yesterday

you probably want the following too:
- decent gloves (i guess you already have these)
- rain suit (in case it rains)
- water
- sun cream
- food (there's a cafe there, but the food is a bit rubbish)
- probably don't need duct tape if it's a track bike
- tinter visor

does the rental include use of a garage too?

You don't need waterproofs or a tinted visor really. If it rains most people either sit it out or just get wet instead of billowing around. Are you going with Smallboys? If so they'll take care of everything bike-related. Take some deckchairs, food and drink, camera, and try to relax and don't be put off by the other trackday hero types

Your welcome babe.
I just hope you enjoy it, and try not to fall off.
Yes he is going with Smallboys, spoke to Matt and he was very helpful and said that everything bike related will be taken care of. The hire also includes garage.

Decent gloves.
Make sure tyres, and everything on bike works well.
Tape for lights and mirrors.
You shouldnt need to tape the speedo as you should be looking WHERE you are going.

You'll have a great time, give yourself time to learn the track when you get there, it's pretty technical with a few blind bends and a couple of off-camber bits. Try not to outbrake yourself in the 2nd/3rd session, that's another first-trackday classic!

there's was definitely a few "where the teacake is the track" moments coming around lodge. and the shell oils corner was a really strange one because of the camber

between 7:30 and 8:15 i believe

i got there for about 8, safety briefing is at 8:30, advanced guys head off around 8:50, bit more talking and then they let you loose

i'd probably get there around 7:30 or 7:45 so you can meet your hire guys etc.

been thinking about my next track day, i think i'll try renting as well, once you factor in servicing your bike etc it's not really that expensive. plus i think it'll be a lot easier to get my knee down on an R6 than an FZ6 very happy

Phil I've got some hein gericke knee sliders you can have, they're unused as knee down on the divvy isn't likely.

Pm me your address and I'll get them sent out. (I know you have probably sent me it a million times but I always forget it...)

All done

Last Wednesday, 27th July at Oulton Park

Thanks to Bias who turned up to watch and also give me £20.00 for sponsorship towards Great North Run (see below for details)

Me and Gemma had a great day.  Matt from Smallboy and his team were excellent.

Our group (Novice) only had 1 red flag all day however the Advanced and Inters had a lot more which tinkled us off as we lost time.  2 riders in the advanced had a major collision which resulted in 1 being taken to hospital and a loss of 45 minutes.

More importantly, I managed to keep the tyres on the track.  I also got to a top speed of 121 mph and did a wheelie on my ascent up Clay Hill.  My fastest lap was around 2:23

Anyway, all pictures are on my facebook page.  The professional pics are:

I also wore my Garmin

Love seeing your bpm there. Sounds like you had a great time - really must get myself some cheap leathers as a local circuit are doing £30 evening sessions.

no knee down at all.  i hired my leathers - £50.00 including collection and delivery - bargain.  saved myself £200.00 as I bought a set of leathers but took them back to the shop after the hired ones fitted.

I only paid £50 for my leathers, 2nd's of ebay, needed a new zip and some stitching, that cost me £30 at the local tailers, so £80 in all.

In the 1st Garmin pic you cheated and took a shortcut, and my god did you burn some calories off lol .
