A new year, another day of mayhem... I'm organising a group for motocrossing at Finningley near Doncaster on the 26th July this year. It's all done through Geoff Mayes, ex-British MX champion and all round diamond geezer. All bikes, gear and tuition are supplied, see www.mxtryout.co.uk for details, all you need for the day is lunch and underpants. All you have to be is over 7 years old and about 4' high, you don't even have to have slung a leg over a motorbike before. If you do ride on the road and have never ridden off road, this will be a bit of an eye opener. Either way it's a lot of fun, and for your other halves/kids etc. a good way to get them on a bike without dodging homicidal cagers and all the other things that go on on the road. Cost for the day is around £110, it runs 10am-4pm, and the track is Doncaster Moto Park adjacent to Robin Hood airport. You can see it on Google maps: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=doncaster&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=12.188179,28.081055&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Doncaster,+United+Kingdom&ll=53.472633,-0.995239&spn=0.002995,0.010943&t=h&z=17Bung your questions below or PM me if you prefer.

£40 sometime or other, this is a non-refundable deposit as I have to give the same to Geoff. The rest I'll ask for at the end of June-ish. The exact amount depends on the number of people and bikes, it's bound to be a few quid off £110 but not much. If I've forgotten to email you next week then give me a prod.

It's not bad, the open area between the car park and trhe main track is a large flat area used as the practice oval. First thing once you get on the bike is do some laps of it to get the feel of it, then progress on to a small normal track, then the main bit. The main track has a fair bit of sand so is pretty weatherproof. Last year it had just been regraded for racing the next weekend and was a bit soft, but by lunchtime it had firmed up a bit and was a lot easier. Good selection of jumps and other bits. Are you coming?

Spinno's right, although adding people at the last minute is usually possible, there's a degree of flexibility, and in a larger group, a fair chance of someone dropping out. Last minute realistically means a few weeks before though, after that it's pot luck!

Tom/Martin/Greg/Reckless can you please PM me your email addresses (in case the one in your profile isn't the one you want to use) and I'll send more details. Ta! Greg, we've had loads of non-riders on this, they just pick it up on the day, and by lunchtime they're popping over the jumps with the others.

I might pop up for this.. not to participate as such. but camera in hand to record those embarassing moments for posterity and the all-round entertainment (and opportunities) the forum so rightly deserves.

Everyone's welcome, the track isn't being used for anything else so it's just a case of following your nose. PM me an email address and I'll make sure you get directions, you'll need them.

A bit last minute but I have a spare place on the MX day, cost is £100, PM me for details. It's on the 26th July so please don't hang around. See the first post for basic details if you haven't been following this. It's a brilliant day.

Home safe, absolutely bloomered. Six offs (have I beat mr sharp?), but no damage, just a few achy bits as expected. A highly recommended way to go and teacake yourself up for the week. lets have some pics guru.
