Ducati have been in World Superbikes from the start. Their bikes make up 1/4 of the grid.
With MotoGP saying they are going to allow bikes running production engines - is this the end of WSBK?
I think it would be a real shame - WSBK has produced some of the best, closest and most exciting races of the last few years.

I just think they've spat their dummy out. Look on the bright side. They won't have to keep changing the rules now.

Not really that important a factor in my life for me to feel the need to advertise the fact, I have bigger fish to fry

I've personally enjoyed World Superbikes recently, I thought Ben Spies display in his 'rookie' year was awesome, and this year thoroughly enjoyed seeing Haslam riding fantastically at the beginning of the year and Biaggi finding his form.
It would be a real shame for this series to die out.

WSB is only bigger in UK than anywhere. Ducati dropped out of BSB a couple of seasons ago. It may affect the sales here but I guess it depends on whether or not you can buy a GP replica for reasonable money. GP bikes are supposed to be prototypes where as the idea of WSB is you go into a shop and buy the bike to go racing. Ok, add another £100k to get bike ready but it is based on a bike Joe public can buy. What would you rather watch? 30 WSB bikes battling? or 14 MotoGP bikes in procession? (allowing for crashers)

I know which I would rather watch
Sadly the economics for Ducati are likely to be compelling - to leave WSB. As Miki says, they left BSB a few years ago so this is hardly surprising, even if dissappointing.
Without a wider following for WSB it can't make economic sense to throw that much money at the sport. Ducatti just doesn't sell enough bikes off the bike of it. I guess the next question is, will they invest thii saving in GP?

Maybe they need to save the cash to pay Monkey Boy's salary next season?
Its a shame they are quitting but like has already been said, not really a suprise.
