I know this could go in off-topic, maintenance or even general but I thought this might be the most suitable place. I'm happy to stand corrected. worthy

I needed to learn how to use Flash and thought I'd make something useful so here is a Flash thing to explain the basics of daily maintenance.

If anything is wrong or desperately needs improvements then let me know. And if you know anyone who might find it useful then so much the better.

That is superb.
Well done. The Gods of Sticky (hallowed be their names) should give this a polish.

Happy hippy i also learnt a bit of flash many moons ago, for your buttons you have selected only the text to act as a link, so between each letter the link is not clickable, i thing you can create an invisible shape that cover the text and use that to link to where ever you need to go, its a common mistake when people are new to flash. I think its a great idea what your doing  clap

Bolts although good is quite basic and misses out some elements that are essential as part of the pre ride safety and maintanance check.

Have you considered P O W D E R

P = Petrol, is there sufficient fuel for the journey?

O = Oil but includes all lubrication and smooth operation of the controls which requires lubrication i,e cables, chain etc

W = Water.  many bikes are now watercooled and are reliant on coolant which can evaporate.

D = Damage.  General walk around the bike to make sure that noting is broken, falling off or likely to cause you danger once you move off.

E = Electrics but includes not only lights, but all electrical equipment such as the horn, brake lights, indicators and even your panel lights.

R = Rubber which includes tyres but also includes items such as footrest rubbers and bar grips which can cause isues if they become worn or loose

This is not to criticise what you have done, but BOLTS is regarded as fairly basic whilst POWDER is a little more comprehensive and does notn take any longer than BOLTS.

Re: the buttons - I had spotted that (the kids do exactly the same in PPT). I made the button transparent and clearly the transparent bits aren't clickable (as there is nothing there). I can probably get away with just making the transparent bits white. But it was 4am by the time I got to bed (always the same once I get started on a project) and tbh I just couldn't be pestered.

Re: POWDER - While it is undoubtedly more comprehenisve there are some elements which appear to be mutually exclusive. Where would brakes come in there? Also steering/suspension (suspension could come under rubber, but not steering...)? How about BS-POWDER laughing

re: Welsh Al - you really know how to massage an ego. Cheers for that.

You could have BS in front of POWDER, but like BOLTS it is a pre ride check and therefore steering and suspension would normally be checked as part of the moving brake test, which is where the brakes are applied to ensure that it pulls up firmly and in a straight line without any adverse affects on the steering.

Suspension can also be included as part of the damage section of the check, but I hear where you are coming from.

You've missed the point T.C.  Whilst your POWDER is what's required for most of us on the forum, Happy Hippy's BOLTS was titled BIKE MAINTENANCE FOR NUMPTIES.  rofl

Still a good Flash program Happy Hippy  OK!

Excellent, To improve the buttons, Draw a box under the HIT layer of the button the size of the button, Means you don't have to click on the letters / outline smile

The Op is still around, but hadn't spotted that it had gone. I was cheekily using a server at work that has now been retired. I'll have to see if I can find a local copy somewhere...

Cheers for the heads up
