Not a problem Matt.

TBH a lot of modern tyres have mixed compound whereby the centre of the tread is made from a harder-wearing compound than the edges (which when you think about it, is where its needed).

in my eyes you described 'chicken strips' as tyre wear in the middle of the tyre, not the strips of unused tyre on the edges. which isnt technically correct. but as long as the points across everyones happy smile

not having a go or anything, was just trying to make the explaination a little clearer for all concerned.. apologies if i've stepped on your toes.
